Civil Society Meeting in Copenhagen

A Civil Society Meeting was held at Global Focus on 13 December 2018. Around 30 member organisations of Global Focus focusing on civic space were gathered to provide inputs into and finalise the recommendations to how Danish civil society, the Danish government and Danish private sector can protect and enhance civic space globally. The draft recommendation document was based on the Learning Events held in the fall of 2018 and was further developed at the meeting. Valuable inputs were given as to how the recommendations could be refined and better presented and the decision was taken to include a preamble in the recommendation paper containing a political analysis based on the learnings from the Learning Events, as well as additional recent findings from civic space experts globally. 

The final recommendation document to Danish Actors on how to ensure civic space can be found here. The recommendations were developed by Global Focus and members through inputs from partners and experts from around the world as well as the member organisations' own experiences.
