The working group for Equality focuses on equality in Danish development aid and international work. We focus on gender equality however, we have a broad, inclusive, and intersectional approach to equality in development aid.
Equality is an important element of Danish development cooperation and foreign policy. But there is a need for a coordinated effort from civil society, which can work to strengthen the equality aspect in Denmark's international work, ensure that we in civil society can speak with one voice, and thus strengthen our common priorities.
Denmark's primary focus on the area of equality has so far been on sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRSR). Here Denmark has played an important role as a global leader. This focus should of course continue and be further qualified with input from civil society however, there is also a need to broaden the focus around equality to include other and new aspects, e.g., women's political participation, the fight against violence against women, gender mainstreaming, and gender budgeting.
The working group has a focus on advocacy, lobbying, and capacity building. If you want to be part of the Equality Group, contact Rebekka Blomquist.
