The purpose of #UNmute is to increase civil society's meaningful participation in UN contexts, both physically and online.  

The unique aspect of the #UNmute campaign is that it is not "own" by any single actor, rather it is an alliance and a baton we hand to each other to contribute to our common efforts to enhance the voice of civil society at the UN.

Today, #UNmute has become a global campaign and alliance, supported by more than 460 organisations from around the world, as well as 60 member states. 

Global Focus collaborates continuously with the Danish UN mission in New York and other actors to ensure space for civil society actors in UN meetings and decision-making processes.
