Building Responses Together (BRT) is an international network aimed at strengthening cooperation between organisations that provide rapid response support to civil society actors and human rights defenders at risk. Global Focus serves as the secretariat for the network, which members use to collaborate, share resources, and develop joint initiatives such as advocacy efforts and research projects.

The network offers opportunities for:

• Collaboration and coordination across organisations and countries to ensure fast, effective, and holistic support to civil society actors and human rights defenders

• Knowledge-sharing and exchange of best practices within rapid response mechanisms, such as verification practices

• Establishing joint initiatives and efforts to ensure coordination in larger crisis situations (for example, several BRT members coordinated a joint response to support civil society actors during the violent protests in Bangladesh in 2024)

• Ensuring efficient use of resources by avoiding double funding and duplication of work through increased information-sharing, coordination, and collaboration on specific cases and applicant verification
