Global Focus invites you to the event SDG Summit - a global rescue plan?
2023 marks the midpoint of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) towards 2030. During the UN General Assembly in September, Secretary-General Antonio Gutteres has invited heads of state and governments to follow up and review the implementation of the 17 SDG’s. But the settings in which the SDG’s were adopted has undeniably changed.
A pandemic, increased inequality, an accelerated climate crisis, geopolitical tension and a war on European soil have changed the priorities of the international community towards 2030. Now the world's heads of state are meeting in New York to accelerate and commit to action, but with diverging priorities between countries can the SDG Summit lead to a global rescue plan that can accomplish the SDG’s - and what implications will it have for development policies in the coming future?
We ask those questions when we invite DIIS, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and civil society actors from Uganda and Kenya to give their take on what the SDG Summit can and should lead to.
The program is as follows
14.00 Welcome with moderator Mette Müller Kristensen, director, Global Focus
