Creating and amplifying alliances of solidarity
Torsdag 02 December 2021, 14:00 - 16:00

How can Danish civil society organisations learn from and expand their work with informally organised civil society actors, social movements, and protest movements, and what is the potential for enhancing Danish support to these actors?

Global Focus and the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) have the pleasure of inviting you to an inclusive and participatory event looking into the rapidly emerging types of popular engagement that are more fluid, informal, and locally oriented. These forms of civic activism, understood as informal civil society actors, social movements, and protest movements, are important actors of political and societal change. Learning how to amplify, support and sustain the actions of these civil society actors holds great potential for achieving just and equal societies.

A panel discussion will take point of departure in presentations of the report by Global Focus on protest movements as well as a new study by the MFA on Danish support to informally organised civil society and social movements, which will be launched at the event. Based on key recommendations from the reports, young activists from the Global South, Danish civil society organisations, and the MFA  will discuss opportunities and challenges in expanding alliances, partnerships, and support to informally organised civil society actors, social movements, and protest movements.

The invited participants are from the Danish public, including member organisations of Global Focus. We hope for your active engagement in the event.

Please register below before Friday 26 November COB.
